Matt Belfrage set up his successful business as a bespoke carpenter making fine furniture in North Dorset, England, in the 1990s, having previously trained and worked as an architectural model-maker in London and Sydney.
Matt continues to combine traditional methods of construction with country, arts & crafts and contemporary influences. He produces work of the highest quality that will stand the test of time and be enjoyed by generations to come. He gains great satisfaction from creating unique, finely crafted furniture that stands out in an age of mass production.
Trees provide us with so much pleasure when they are growing, that Matt finds it particularly rewarding to make their beauty last through his work. This connection with the natural world informs his philosophy and his unique furniture designs. He aims to capture the spirit of the countryside in each individual piece.
